What drives the price
You are buying hours of professional work, not magic.
A one-hour lesson costs the least because it delivers one hour. Day training multiplies that: five full weekdays of one-on-one work, socialization, and enrichment. Board & train costs the most because your dog lives with the trainer and works every single day for weeks, which is why it produces the fastest, deepest change.
Beware quotes that look cheap but exclude the essentials. When comparing Calgary programs, confirm whether equipment, the go-home lesson, and follow-up support are inside the price. Our board & train pricing includes take-home gear (a slip lead and collar on the on-leash programs, an Educator remote collar on the off-leash ones), the owner handover lesson, and free follow-up sessions.

Why so expensive?
The honest economics of good training.
People ask why dog training is so expensive, and it is a fair question. A serious board & train means one professional living with and working your dog morning to night: feeding, training, socializing, decompressing, and documenting, for weeks. Divide our three-week Functional Off-Leash program at $3,030 by 21 days of full-time work and it comes to about $144 a day, less than most people pay a plumber for an hour. The expensive version is the cheap training that does not stick.

How much does puppy training cost?
Our three-week Puppy Fundamentals board & train is $2,775 + GST, including a follow-up session within 60 days and the take-home gear. Private puppy coaching is the same $150 per session as any private lesson.
Is dog training worth the money?
Weigh it against the ten-plus years you will live with the result. Owners spend more on a couch the dog destroys than on the training that would have prevented it. Good training is one of the few dog expenses that pays you back daily.
Do you offer cheaper group classes?
No. Everything at Northline is one-on-one because individual work changes behaviour faster. If budget is the constraint, a single $150 private session with a take-home plan is the most cost-effective place to start.
