What a $5,000 dog training program includes
Five thousand dollars is a number that deserves a line-by-line answer. Here is ours for the one program that lands there. Behaviour Rehab is the live-in program built for the barkers, the lungers, the hiders and the growlers, and its fee is confirmed only after the dog has been assessed. Below, every published inclusion, then the questions worth asking anyone who quotes you something similar.

The itemized fee
Four inclusions, one of which happens before the program starts.
The first inclusion is the full behaviour assessment, and it comes before anything else, because the price is customized to the dog once the assessment is done. The second is five to six weeks of daily, individualized work. The published scope covers reactivity work, anxiety rehabilitation, fear-based behaviour work, confidence building and structured socialization. Daily means daily: the dog lives the structured routine it is learning, with fresh water, exercise, enrichment and individual care in clean, comfortable accommodations.
The third inclusion is two free follow-up sessions after the dog goes home. The fourth is in-depth owner education, described in the published program as learning the why, not just the what. That last item matters more than it looks on a quote: the owner is the one living with the dog afterward, so the education is where the fee keeps working once the stay has ended and the dog is back in its own home.

Before you sign
Why the fee is a range, and six questions for any quote.
Obedience programs carry a fixed price because the curriculum is largely known in advance: loose-leash walking, place, recall, heel. A behaviour program is harder to price that way. What an anxious or reactive dog needs is usually unclear until the dog has been seen, so the work is individualized and the fee is set within a range after assessment. The longer stay, the two follow-ups and the deeper owner education are what the extra money buys.
Whoever quotes you a figure near $5,000, ask six things. Is there a formal assessment before the price is final? How many weeks, and is the daily work one-on-one or in a group? How many follow-up sessions are included after the dog comes home? What does the owner education consist of, and when does it happen? Are dogs with bite histories accepted, and on what basis? And what, specifically, is not included? Itemized answers tell you more than the total.

Asked and answered
The questions people ask us.
Is $5,000 a lot for dog training?
It is the highest published price at Northline K9, and it buys the longest program: five to six weeks of daily individualized behaviour work, a full assessment, two follow-ups and in-depth owner education. Obedience programs run from $1,865 to $3,940 plus GST, and this range is for the program built around anxiety, reactivity and aggression. Whether it is a lot depends on what living with the behaviour is like.
What does a behaviour modification board and train include?
At Northline K9, Behaviour Rehab includes a full behaviour assessment, five to six weeks of daily individualized work on reactivity, anxiety, fear and confidence, structured socialization, two free follow-up sessions and in-depth owner education. The dog lives the structured routine it is learning, in clean, comfortable accommodations with daily exercise and enrichment. Visits are gently discouraged, with social-media updates and personal phone or email check-ins instead.
Why is the price a range instead of a fixed number?
A behaviour plan cannot be written for a dog nobody has met. You hear your figure, somewhere between $4,850 and $5,760 plus GST, once the full assessment has shown what the work involves. That way the quote describes your dog, not a typical one.
Will a program this expensive fix aggression?
No program can promise an outcome, and a quote that does should make you cautious. Behaviour Rehab works on fear-based behaviour, reactivity and confidence, and dogs with bite histories are accepted after a full assessment. It is also sensible to ask your vet about possible medical causes alongside any behaviour plan.
