Three weeks is the length where a board and train stops being a tune-up and starts building something that holds. At Northline K9 it comes in two versions that share a calendar and almost nothing else. One takes a puppy through the basics before bad habits set in. The other takes a dog that already knows sit and walks well on a leash, and gives it the recall it needs to earn freedom.

Same length, different jobs
What each three-week program actually covers.
Puppy Fundamentals starts with the crate. The first days are about a pup that settles in it by day and sleeps in it through the night, plus learning its name and taking food for markers. Mid-stay layers in sit, down and place, and short leash walks where pulling never gets rehearsed. The final week is structured socialization: calm exposure to new surfaces, sounds, people and adult dogs, so curiosity wins over worry. A slip lead and training collar are included.
Functional Off-Leash assumes the basics are there and spends its three weeks on one thing: a recall that works when a hare bolts or another dog appears. The Educator remote collar is introduced on a long line, layered over a recall the dog already understands, so the dog reads it as information, not a surprise. Distractions are added gradually and proofed in real places. The last stretch is owner education, so you are fluent on the handset before the dog comes home.

How to tell which program your dog needs.
Age is the first sort. A pup under roughly six months belongs in Puppy Fundamentals: the crate, the name and the first leash steps are what it needs, and remote collar recall can wait. A dog past that age that already sits, downs and walks on a loose leash but bolts once the leash comes off is a Functional Off-Leash dog. An older dog that still pulls or ignores sit needs foundations before freedom.
Two honest exceptions. If the problem is purely the leash, pulling, no stay, no heel to speak of, Complete On-Leash Foundations at $1,865 covers it in two weeks and you keep the difference. And if your dog is not distracted off leash so much as frightened or explosive, growling at strangers, fixating on dogs, no three-week program is the right container. That dog needs a full assessment and Behaviour Rehab, five to six weeks at $4,850 to $5,760.

For a puppy learning everything from scratch, or for an obedient dog learning off-leash reliability, three weeks is the right length. Pure leash problems are usually solved in the two-week program, and reactivity or aggression needs five to six weeks after an assessment.
