Start with the walk itself. Killarney sidewalks are narrow and busy, with mixed traffic at close range: cars, bikes, strollers, and the fencing around whichever infill is going up next. That is the daily test, so the skill that matters most is a loose leash with a dog that checks in at every curb instead of dragging toward 17 Avenue SW. A sit at the corner is not decoration. It is how a strong dog stays on the sidewalk when a truck rolls past.
The City lists both Shaganappi and Killarney/Glengarry as designated off-leash areas in the southwest. They are the neighbourhood's release valve, but they come with rules: dogs on the paved pathway must be leashed, and there is a five-metre no-dog buffer around play structures, school grounds and sports fields. A Killarney dog needs a recall that works when another dog arrives at the gate. River Park is a short drive when you want the big ridge.

They have a reactivity problem, and that is Behaviour Rehab, five to six weeks at $4,850 to $5,760, customized after a full assessment.
Private Training at $150 per hour comes to your own block, with a written plan for the week, because a sit that works in a quiet field means little at 26 Avenue at five o'clock. Commuters use Day Training, $650 per week with a weekly go-home lesson. Each option is one-on-one; group classes are not something we run. And please confirm the current boundaries of Shaganappi and Killarney/Glengarry on calgary.ca before the leash comes off, since off-leash maps change.
