Board & train
Does board and train help with eating poop?
Coprophagia is a habit with an address. It happens in your yard, at the litter box, or on the path where another dog went first. A board and train takes the dog away from those places for the program and works on the skills, which is useful and also the catch. Here is what a live-in program can change about stool eating, what it cannot, and what to settle before you book.

Skills, not the yard
What the curricula work on, and where the habit actually lives.
There is no stool-eating program, and we are not going to pretend one exists. What the published curricula work on is the skill set around the habit. On-Leash Foundations, two weeks at $1,865 + GST, works on sit, down, stay, place and working around everyday distractions, which gives a dog something to do besides nosing the ground. Functional Off-Leash, three weeks at $3,030 + GST, works on reliable recall around distractions, the skill you want when the dog finds something on the river path.
Here is what a live-in program cannot do. It cannot pick up your yard, move the cat's litter box or change the stock of finds on your usual walk. It cannot replace the vet visit either, and that comes first: ask your vet about the stool eating before you book anything with us. And it cannot teach the dog in your kitchen; the dog learns with us, lives the structured routine with us, and brings the skills home at the handover lesson.
- Vet visit before any booking
- Recall around distractions
- Structured day, less idle time
- Yard and litter box stay yours
Your half
The pick-up, the leash and the questions worth asking.
What you take over is the management, and it starts the day the dog comes home. The yard is scooped before the dog goes out, the litter box lives behind a gate, and a leash stays on wherever a find is likely until the recall has been proofed in that exact spot. The handover lesson covers how to run the recall and the place command the dog was sent home with; our how-to guide, How to stop a dog eating poop, holds the step-by-step method.
At the consultation, bring the vet's answer and a plain account of where the eating happens: yard, litter box, walks, or all three. Ask what a follow-up session can be used for once the dog is back on your own paths. Private Training, $150 + GST for an hour and a written weekly plan customized to your home, is built for owners who want to do the training themselves. The consultation recommends the program, and a smaller one when it is enough.

Asked and answered
The questions people ask us.
Does board and train fix eating poop?
Fix is a strong word for a habit that lives in your yard. A live-in program works on the skills around it, recall around distractions, place and a structured routine, and the handover lesson passes those to you. What happens at the litter box and on your walks after that is management, and that part is yours.
Is there a board and train for eating poop specifically?
No, and we would rather say so than sell you one. The published programs work on obedience, recall and manners around distractions; the consultation looks at your dog and recommends the program that covers what you need, and a smaller one when that is sufficient.
What should happen before booking a board and train for eating poop?
A vet visit. Ask your vet about the stool eating before training is on the table, since no program can reach anything a vet needs to look at. Bring the answer to the consultation along with a plain account of where the eating happens.
Which eating poop training program makes sense: board and train or private sessions?
That depends on the dog and on how much of the problem is opportunity at home. Private Training is a one-hour session at $150 + GST with a written weekly plan, built for owners doing the work themselves. A board and train is built for dogs who need the foundation skills laid inside a structured routine, and the consultation is where we tell you which.
