The first thing a pit bull brings through our door is pulling power. A muscular adult leaning into a flat collar turns an ordinary walk into a tug of war, and most owners have already tried a harness that gave the dog more to pull with. The second thing is affection. These dogs lean, wiggle and climb into laps that cannot hold them. Strength and softness live in the same body, which is exactly why the handling has to be clear.
Adolescence is when the phone calls start. A puppy who loved every dog at the off-leash area becomes selective, stiffening at some and rushing others. Add arousal in play, where a game tips from fun into too much, and you have a dog who needs structure before anyone gets hurt. Calgary has no breed-specific ban, so nothing protects your dog's standing except how it acts in public. That is doable, and it is the entire job.

Every program here is one-on-one, and for a strong dog that matters: no class chaos, no waiting a turn while your dog rehearses lunging. Skills are taught with markers and rewards first, then the tool is matched to the dog, whether that is a slip lead, a prong collar or a modern Educator e-collar, and you are taught to use it properly. For most pit bulls the starting point is On-Leash Foundations, a 2-week board and train at $1,865 plus GST.
Those two weeks cover loose-leash walking, heel, sit, down, stay and place around everyday distractions. Dog selectivity that has tipped into reactivity or aggression belongs in Behaviour Rehab, a 5 to 6 week board and train at $4,850 to $5,760 plus GST, customized after a full assessment with two follow-ups. If a $150 private session with a written weekly plan is enough, we will say so. Every stay ends with a handover lesson, because the person holding the leash is half the result.
