The first step is a consultation, where we recommend the program that fits your dog, and when a smaller one is enough, we say so.

How we train
One dog at a time, with a method we can explain.
Northline K9 is relationship-based. We train your dog as an individual, never as one face in a group, and we shape the plan around temperament, history and the habits you want gone. We teach skills with markers and rewards first, so the dog understands what earns the good stuff before anything else is layered in. Then we proof the work in real-world settings, sidewalks, pathways and front doors included, so the skills get practised around the distractions your dog actually meets.
We match tools to the individual dog, not to a philosophy. Some dogs need nothing beyond a slip lead; others do better with a prong collar or a modern Educator e-collar, and when we use a tool we introduce it properly, explain it, and teach it to your hands at the handover lesson. We work with dogs from Calgary and the surrounding areas, we run no group classes, and we do not train service dogs. Every board and train includes free follow-up sessions.

Formats and prices
Every format, what it costs, and who it suits.
We offer three formats. Private training is a one-hour session, and we send you home with a plan to practise all week; it suits owners who want to do the training themselves. Day Training is $800 a week, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour go-home session each week, for dogs who need consistent work and owners who want them home every night. Board and train runs two to six weeks, for puppies, on-leash and off-leash goals, and behaviour rehab.
We start with a consultation, where we recommend one program for your dog, including the smaller one when it is enough. Our welcome package includes a crate-training guide. Every board and train includes daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization, enrichment, updates to you, a handover lesson and free follow-up sessions. We gently discourage visits mid-program because they interrupt the routine; we post updates on social media and check in personally by phone or email instead.

How much does dog training cost in Calgary?
At Northline K9, private sessions run one hour, Day Training is $800 a week, and board and train runs from $1,865 for two weeks to $5,760 for five to six weeks of Behaviour Rehab, all plus GST. Graduates and existing clients can board for $65 a night. We publish every price rather than quoting behind a form.
Do you offer group dog training classes in Calgary?
No. We train every dog one-on-one: board and train, Day Training and private sessions. Socialization still happens during board and train, but we keep it structured and supervised rather than a free-for-all.
What training methods does Northline K9 use?

What age can a dog start training?
Puppy Fundamentals is built for puppies in their key learning window, and if your pup is already practising habits you don't love, sooner is genuinely better. Our other programs are described by what they work on, not by age, and the consultation is where we recommend one for your dog. If you are unsure about timing for a young puppy, ask your vet.
How do I know the training will stick at home?
We cannot promise that, and we do not. What we include is the owner side: every board and train ends with a handover lesson where you learn the commands, the tools and the reasons, plus free follow-up sessions afterward. Day Training includes a weekly one-hour go-home session, and private sessions come with a plan to practise all week.
