Board and train does a different job. The dog lives with us and trains every day, one-on-one, inside a structured routine, with socialization and enrichment layered around the sessions. That volume is what you are paying for. A loose-leash walk becomes a habit because it was practised morning and afternoon for two weeks, not because it was explained once on a Tuesday. Updates, a handover lesson and free follow-ups carry the work home.

Choosing by problem
Decide by what is broken, not by convenience.
Jumping on guests, begging, a puppy that will not settle at night: start in-home, because the fix is mostly yours to practise. Pulling, no recall, reactivity toward dogs on the street, a fear of the vacuum that has become a fear of everything: those need volume and a change of context, so board and train usually wins. Complete On-Leash Foundations covers the leash work in two weeks. Behaviour Rehab handles anxiety, reactivity and aggression over five to six weeks after a full assessment.
The option people forget is day training. Drop the dog off between 8 and 10 am, collect it between 5 and 7 pm, and it trains with us Monday to Friday while sleeping in its own bed. Each week ends with a one-hour go-home lesson so you learn the handling too. For a dog that would fret overnight, or an owner who wants coaching without waiting for a Saturday, it lands neatly between the other two formats.
