People search for a dog school because the word feels right: send the dog somewhere, it learns, it comes back educated. That is roughly what board and train is, with two corrections. The dog is not in a classroom with a dozen others; it is one dog with one trainer. And the graduation is not a certificate, it is a lesson where you learn to run what your dog now knows.

The residential version, program by program.
At Northline the school is one dog with one trainer, not a roomful. Your dog moves in for the length of the program, follows a structured daily routine, and trains one-on-one every day with rest, enrichment and socialization built around the sessions. You get updates while the dog is with us. At the end there is a handover lesson, then free follow-up sessions so the work survives the drive home. There are no group classes at any stage.
The curriculum depends on the dog. Puppy Fundamentals is three weeks at $2,775 and covers crate comfort, leash manners, name and the core positions. On-Leash Foundations is two weeks at $1,865 for loose-leash walking, heel, sit, down, stay and place. Functional Off-Leash is three weeks at $3,030 and Advanced Off-Leash four weeks at $3,940, both building reliable recall and manners without a leash. Behaviour Rehab runs five to six weeks at $4,850 to $5,760 for anxiety, reactivity and aggression. Every price is plus GST.

Before you enrol
Questions to ask any school before you hand over the leash.
Ask where the dogs sleep, and expect a precise answer. Ask how many dogs one trainer is responsible for at a time, because a school running many dogs at once is not training any of them for long. Ask what a typical day looks like hour by hour: how much is training, how much is rest, how much is being left in a run. Ask who actually handles your dog, and whether that person is the one you will meet at the handover.
Then ask about the part after. What does the owner learn, and when: a quick demo in the parking lot or a proper lesson where you handle the dog yourself? Which tools were used, were they introduced properly, and will you be taught to use them? What happens the first time the training wobbles at home, and does that cost extra? A school that includes a handover lesson, teaches you the tools, and offers follow-up sessions at no charge has answered those before you asked.

What does a dog obedience boarding school in Calgary cost?
Programs run from $1,865 for two weeks to $4,850 to $5,760 for a five to six week Behaviour Rehab, all plus GST. Three-week programs are $2,775 for puppies and $3,030 for off-leash work; four weeks of Advanced Off-Leash is $3,940. Every price includes the handover lesson and follow-ups.
Is a dog boarding school the same as boarding with some training added?
No. In a board and train the training is the reason the dog is there: daily one-on-one sessions, a structured routine and a curriculum matched to the program. Boarding is simply a place to stay, which is why we offer it only to graduates, at $65 per night.
Does a dog obedience school in Calgary take adult dogs, or just puppies?
Both. Puppy Fundamentals is built for puppies; the other programs are for adolescent and adult dogs, from a two-week leash program through off-leash work to Behaviour Rehab for anxiety, reactivity or aggression.
Will the dog listen to the owner after school, or only to the trainer?
That is what the handover lesson is for. The owner learns the cues, the rewards and any tools the dog was trained with, then free follow-up sessions catch anything that slips once everyone is home.
