Walking in Tuscany
The coulee sets the syllabus.
12 Mile Coulee sits at Tuscany Boulevard and Stoney Trail, and the City lists two off-leash areas there, one north of the boulevard and one south. Neither is listed as fenced. The coulee slopes toward the Bow River, and the City's park page lists deer, coyotes, porcupines and ground squirrels in it. So a Tuscany dog off leash needs a recall that beats a fleeing squirrel and a nose that stops short of a porcupine. Anything less stays on the line.
Then there is the everyday version. The paved pathways are shared, and even inside an off-leash area a dog on a paved pathway must be leashed, two metres at most, so loose-leash walking is not optional here. Dogs must keep five metres from play structures, which in a family-heavy suburb means passing swings calmly on a short line most walks. Add LRT station foot traffic and Stoney Trail noise beside the northern off-leash area, and a settled dog becomes the real goal.

Which program a Tuscany dog usually needs, and why.
Most Tuscany dogs we meet are first dogs in family homes, which points at two programs. Puppy Fundamentals, three weeks at $2,775, builds crate comfort, leash manners and structured socialization before bad habits form. On-Leash Foundations, two weeks at $1,865, gives an older dog the loose-leash walking and place command that Tuscany's pathways and playground rules demand. Only once that holds do we talk about Functional Off-Leash, three weeks at $3,030 with an Educator collar, for a recall that stands up in the coulee.
Board and train means a drop-off from Calgary NW, owner updates while the dog is with us, and a handover lesson plus free follow-ups at the end. Day training suits the LRT commuter: drop off between 8 and 10 am, collect between 5 and 7 pm, $650 a week with a weekly go-home lesson. Private sessions, $150 an hour with a written weekly plan, happen on your own Tuscany streets. One honesty note: confirm every park and off-leash boundary on calgary.ca before you unclip.
