Day training drop-off and pick-up: what to expect

The windows are the easy part: drop off between 8:00 and 10:00 am, pick up between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. The natural next questions are how the handoff works, what to bring and how the weekly lesson gets scheduled. Some of that is published and some depends on your dog and your week, so this page separates the two and lists the questions worth confirming with us.

Morning and evening

The published windows, and what to confirm around them.

Drop-off is between 8:00 and 10:00 am and pick-up is between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Those windows are published; how arrival works inside them is worth confirming with us before the first day, rather than assuming. The same goes for what to bring. Your dog on a leash is a safe assumption, and anything specific to your dog, such as food or a particular collar, is worth raising at the consultation so it is agreed before you arrive.

What happens between the windows is published too: one-on-one daily training, structured socialization, supervised play and enrichment, and manners reinforcement, with your dog home in their own bed every night. A daily handoff routine or end-of-day report is not something we publish, so if a daily update matters to you, ask about it rather than expecting one. The place where the week's work is handed to you is the weekly one-hour go-home lesson, and that is the part to plan your schedule around.

The weekly lesson

One hour a week where the work becomes yours.

Every week includes a one-hour go-home lesson, and it is the part of Day Training that is easy to underestimate. Five weekdays of one-on-one work only helps you if you know what your dog was asked for and how to ask for it yourself, so that hour is instruction for you, not a demonstration. Because your dog sleeps at home, evenings and weekends are where you practise, and the lesson is where we talk through what home practice makes sense for your dog.

Here are the questions worth confirming with us before you start: how arrival and pick-up work inside the windows, what to bring on day one, when in the week the go-home lesson happens and who should attend it, and how many weeks to plan for, which we settle at the consultation. Bring your own questions too. The more that is agreed before the first drop-off, the fewer surprises there are at either end of the day.

Asked and answered

The questions people ask us.

When is day training drop off?

Drop-off is between 8:00 and 10:00 am, Monday to Friday. We suggest confirming how arrival works inside that window before your first day, and bringing your dog on a leash.

What is the dog day training pick up time?

Pick-up runs from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on weekdays, and your dog sleeps at home every night. If you want an update at pick-up, ask us what to expect rather than assuming a set routine.

What should I expect from day training in the first week?

Weekdays of one-on-one training, structured socialization, supervised play and enrichment, with your dog home each evening, and a one-hour go-home lesson at the end of the week where you learn to ask for what was worked on. The week costs $650 + GST. How many weeks make sense is a consultation question, not a website one.

Can I drop off later than 10:00 am or pick up after 7:00 pm?

The published windows are 8:00 to 10:00 am and 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. If your schedule cannot fit them, we suggest raising it at the consultation rather than assuming either way.
