Board & train
Board and train for French Bulldogs
French Bulldogs are small, funny and entirely sure of themselves, including the moment the dog sits down on the sidewalk and declines to go on. The flat face sets limits on heat and exertion that a vet should spell out for your dog, and house-training often lags behind the rest. A live-in program has to respect that. Method is in our French Bulldog training guide; this page is about which program fits.

Charm with limits
Short sessions and a firm routine for a dog who negotiates.
Everything with a Frenchie is built around the airway. Sessions are kept short, rest is real, and warm afternoons are for shade, not heel work; we work inside whatever limits your vet sets for your dog. Within them, the program works on the negotiation: the dog who flops flat on the pavement halfway down the block. Loose-leash walking is taught by paying every step forward and never by dragging, and the slip lead is introduced with the dog's neck and breathing in mind.
House-training is where the structured routine earns its keep. A Frenchie often learns sit and down before it learns that the rug is not a toilet, so the day runs on a schedule: out at set times and whenever the dog asks, crate comfort in between, a marker for getting it right outside. Puppy Fundamentals, three weeks at $2,775 plus GST, lists crate comfort and leash manners for a young dog. On-Leash Foundations, two weeks at $1,865 plus GST, is the shortest stay.
- Short sessions, real rest
- Shade before heel work
- Out on a schedule
- Every step forward gets paid
Back on the block
Your part afterwards, and what Day Training offers instead.
The handover lesson covers the leash walk, the place cue and the toilet schedule, and you take home the slip lead and training collar with the leash programs plus a crate-training guide in the welcome package. At least one free follow-up session comes with every board and train, and On-Leash Foundations adds lifetime phone and email support. Through the stay you get updates by phone, email and social media; visits are gently discouraged because they break the very routine the dog is learning.
Your part is the schedule and the thermometer: keep the toilet routine, walk in the cool parts of the day, and stop before the breathing gets loud. Day Training is the other program to weigh. Monday to Friday, drop-off 8 to 10 am, pick-up 5 to 7 pm, $650 plus GST per week, a weekly go-home lesson, and the dog sleeps in its own bed. The consultation hears your Frenchie's habits and your vet's advice, then recommends a program, smaller when smaller is enough.

Asked and answered
The questions people ask us.
Is a French Bulldog board and train safe for a dog with breathing limits?
Ask your vet first; they know your dog's airway and heat tolerance, and we work inside the limits they set. Training is one-on-one with short sessions and real rest, and warm afternoons are not for heel work. Bring the vet's advice to the consultation so the plan is built around it.
What does a French Bulldog board and train work on?
Loose-leash walking that does not stall halfway down the block, place and stay, crate comfort for a puppy, and the fixed toilet schedule that house-training depends on. Sit, down and calm around everyday distractions are on the list too. Everything is paced to the dog in front of us.
Which French Bulldog training program is shortest?
On-Leash Foundations is the shortest board and train at two weeks, $1,865 plus GST, and works on loose-leash walking, heel, sit, stay, down and place. Day Training is not a stay at all: weekdays only, $650 plus GST per week, with the dog home each evening. The consultation recommends which, and may suggest Private Training at $150 plus GST per session when that covers it.
Is Day Training or board and train better for a Frenchie?
Neither is better in general; they are built for different owners. Day Training suits owners who want daily training with the dog home every night, with drop-off 8 to 10 am and pick-up 5 to 7 pm. Board and train suits owners who want the full routine lived in, and the consultation helps you choose.
