Which board and train programs include an e-collar?
The list is short. Functional Off-Leash and Advanced Off-Leash each include a remote collar, and each lists recall, distraction training and owner education. Puppy Fundamentals and On-Leash Foundations include a slip lead and training collar. Behaviour Rehab is planned and priced after a full assessment and lists no collar. What follows is what each program lists, and how we introduce a collar when a program includes one.

The list
Two programs list a remote collar, two list a slip lead, one lists neither.
Functional Off-Leash, three weeks at $3,030 + GST, includes a Micro or Mini Educator remote collar with owner education on using every tool properly. Its curriculum is reliable recall around distractions, off-leash house manners, socialization, distraction training and basic behaviour modification. Advanced Off-Leash, four weeks at $3,940 + GST, includes a remote collar with owner education and handover lessons, plus two free follow-up sessions. Its curriculum is off-leash heel, advanced recall, sit, stay and down at distance, public manners and advanced distraction training.
Puppy Fundamentals, three weeks, includes a slip lead and training collar. It works on leash manners, name recognition, sit and down with stay, place, crate comfort, socialization and meeting new sights and sounds calmly. On-Leash Foundations, two weeks, includes the same slip lead and training collar and works on loose-leash walking, heel, sit, stay, down, place and everyday distractions. Behaviour Rehab, five to six weeks at $4,850 to $5,760 + GST, lists no collar; it is customized after a full assessment.

How the collar arrives
The collar is introduced after the skill is taught, and the owner is taught the collar.
A remote collar is not how a skill is taught. In both off-leash programs, recall and the rest of the curriculum are taught with markers and rewards first, and the collar is introduced properly afterward, as a tool the dog has been prepared for rather than a shortcut around teaching. That order is the same rule we apply to every tool we use, from a slip lead in Puppy Fundamentals to a prong collar where an individual dog needs one.
Then the owner learns it. Functional Off-Leash lists owner education on using every tool properly; Advanced Off-Leash lists owner education and handover lessons. The remote goes home with someone who has been taught it, not handed it. Owners who would rather not use one can look at what the collar-free programs are built for: On-Leash Foundations is built for dogs who drag or lunge. The consultation is where a program gets recommended, and if a smaller one will do the job, that is what we say.

Which board and train uses an e-collar?

Is the e-collar included in the board and train price?
Yes, in both off-leash programs. The Micro or Mini Educator is part of the $3,030 + GST Functional Off-Leash price, and a remote collar is part of the $3,940 + GST Advanced Off-Leash price, with owner education on using it included in each.
Does board and train use shock collars?
We include a modern Educator remote collar in Functional Off-Leash and a remote collar in Advanced Off-Leash, and we teach the owner to use it as part of each program. Puppy Fundamentals and On-Leash Foundations include a slip lead and training collar instead. Behaviour Rehab lists no collar and is customized after a full assessment.
Does Behaviour Rehab include an e-collar?
Not as a listed inclusion. Behaviour Rehab is customized to the dog after a full assessment, and its listed inclusions are five to six weeks of daily individualized work, two free follow-up sessions and in-depth owner education. Any tool used is matched to the individual dog and taught to the owner, as with every program.
