Day training
Is day training worth it?
Worth it is a fair question to ask about any training spend, and we would rather help you answer it than answer it for you. Day Training exists for dogs who need consistent daily work and owners who want them back home each evening. Below is the arithmetic of a week, in money and in hours, and an honest look at the other formats, so you can decide with the numbers to hand.

The worksheet
Four lines to add up before you decide.
Line one is money: $650 + GST for each week, covering Monday to Friday of one-on-one training, obedience development, structured socialization, supervised play and enrichment, and manners reinforcement. If the consultation recommends more than one week, multiply. What you are paying for is daily individual work, not a class where your dog waits a turn, and a dog who comes home to its own bed every night.
Lines two to four are hours. Drop-off is 8 to 10 am and pick-up 5 to 7 pm, so count two trips a day, five days a week. Add one hour a week for the go-home lesson, which is owner education rather than a handoff: an hour with your dog and us, so the week's work is not a mystery. Then add evenings and weekends for practice at home, because the dog lives with you, and the habits have to live there too.
- $650 + GST per week
- Two trips each weekday
- One hour weekly with us
- Home practice evenings and weekends
Compared honestly
What the alternatives cost, and who they are built for.
Household routines matter with any program, and the weekly lesson exists partly for that reason. If you would rather do the training yourselves and have us check the details, Private Training is $150 + GST for a one-hour session with a written weekly plan customized to your home. The two prices are not comparable hour for hour, and which serves you better is a consultation question, not a price question.
The other comparison is fear, reactivity or aggression. Behaviour Rehab is the program built for those: a 5 to 6 week board and train, $4,850 to $5,760 + GST, customized after a full assessment. Day Training works on obedience, manners and structured socialization, and we will not rule it in or out for your dog from a web page. The consultation is where the recommendation happens, and when a smaller program is enough, that is the one we recommend.

Asked and answered
The questions people ask us.
Is dog day training worth the money?
Only you can add that up, so here is the sum: $650 + GST per week, two trips a day for drop-off and pick-up, one hour a week for the go-home lesson, and practice time at home. Against that sits five weekdays of one-on-one training with your dog home every night. If the sum looks wrong for your week, a different program may fit better, and we will say so at the consultation.
Day training vs training it yourself: which is better?
Neither is better in the abstract. Training your own dog suits owners with the time and a plan, and Private Training at $150 + GST per one-hour session gives you a written weekly plan to follow. Day Training suits owners who want the weekday work done one-on-one by us and then explained at the weekly lesson.
Can day training be combined with practice at home?
Yes, and we would say it has to be, because your dog lives with you. The weekly one-hour go-home lesson is owner education, and evenings and weekends are where you carry on with what you have seen. Ask at each lesson what to practise before the next one.
Is day training a good option for a reactive or fearful dog?
We do not decide that from a page; the consultation does. Behaviour Rehab covers anxiety, reactivity and aggression and is customized after a full assessment, so both programs stay on the table until we have met your dog. Tell us what your dog does and we will be straight with you.
