Is Behaviour Rehab worth the price?

Behaviour Rehab carries the highest price on our list, and it is the only program priced after a full assessment rather than from a fixed number. That makes the value question different from the others: you are weighing a range, an assessment and a set of inclusions against what the behaviour is costing your household now. Here is what the price covers, what it does not, and how the assessment sets it.

What is included

What the range covers, and what it does not promise.

Here is what the price includes. Five to six weeks of daily, individualized one-on-one work, built around a full behaviour assessment. Reactivity work, anxiety rehabilitation, fear-based behaviour work, confidence building and structured socialization are the areas the program works on. Two free follow-up sessions, a handover lesson, and in-depth owner education so you learn the why, not just the what. Like every board and train, it also includes a structured routine, enrichment and updates to you.

What the price does not include is a promised outcome. We do not put a date on when barking, lunging or hiding stops, and we do not describe what a dog will be like afterwards, because that is not something a price can buy. The price also does not fix itself in advance: the assessment sets the length and the number within the $4,850 to $5,760 + GST range. Dogs with bite histories are accepted into the program after that assessment.

Weighing it

How the assessment sets the price, and how to weigh it.

The assessment comes first, and it does two jobs. It decides whether Behaviour Rehab is the right fit for your dog at all, and it sets the length and price within the published range. Until it happens, we cannot say whether the program suits your dog or what it would cost, so the final number waits for the assessment. The consultation is where a recommendation is made, and for Behaviour Rehab that recommendation rests on the assessment.

From your side, the weighing is practical. What the behaviour is costing the household now, in walks avoided, guests not invited, or worry. Whether the total fits your budget, tax included. And whether the inclusions matter to you: the two follow-ups and in-depth owner education continue after the dog is home, and that is where your part of the work begins. A sudden change in behaviour, or any sign of pain, is worth a vet visit first.

Asked and answered

The questions people ask us.

Is behaviour rehab worth it?

That depends on your dog's assessment, your budget and what the behaviour is costing your household, so we do not answer it with a blanket yes. Behaviour Rehab is $4,850 to $5,760 + GST for five to six weeks of daily individualized work, two free follow-ups, a handover lesson and in-depth owner education. It does not include a promised outcome.

Is an aggressive dog board and train worth the cost?

Behaviour Rehab is built for anxiety, reactivity and aggression, and dogs with bite histories are accepted after a full assessment. The assessment decides fit and sets the price within $4,850 to $5,760 + GST. We do not promise an outcome, so the cost is weighed against the inclusions and your situation rather than a result.

Is board and train worth it for an aggressive dog, or should we try private lessons first?

Both are available, and we recommend between them at the consultation. Private Training is $150 + GST per one-hour session with a written weekly plan, for owners who want to do the handling themselves. Behaviour Rehab is the five to six week board and train built for anxiety, reactivity and aggression, planned and priced after a full assessment.

Why does Behaviour Rehab cost more than the other programs?

It is the longest program, five to six weeks against two to four for the obedience programs, and the daily work is individualized to one dog after a full behaviour assessment. It also includes two free follow-up sessions and in-depth owner education. The price is quoted as a range because the assessment sets the final number.
