Northline K9 offers a different model: graduates of our training programs board with the trainer who already knows their triggers, at $65 a night + GST, with structure, individual care, and optional refresher training built in.
Why kennels backfire
A week of rehearsal can undo months of work.
Reactivity is maintained by repetition, and a busy kennel is a repetition machine: barrier frustration at the run fence, forced proximity to unknown dogs, staff who cannot read your dog's escalation signs. Owners routinely report that their reactive dog came home from a boarding week measurably worse, and mechanically, that is exactly what you would expect.
The fix is not a nicer kennel, it is boarding with someone who trains reactive dogs for a living: thresholds respected, exposures chosen, and calm routines your dog already understands.

Why we board dogs we have trained.
Boarding here is an alumni privilege on purpose. A reactive dog we have lived with for weeks boards safely because we know their history, their thresholds, and their commands. Taking unknown reactive dogs for boarding-only stays would recreate the kennel problem with better marketing. If your reactive dog needs boarding and training, the path is the rehab program first, and the boarding privilege lasts for life afterward.

How much is reactive dog boarding?
For Northline graduates, $65 per night + GST, including structured routine, exercise, enrichment, and individual care from the trainer your dog already knows. Refresher training during the stay is available.
Can you board my reactive dog without training first?
No, and that is a safety decision. Boarding a reactive dog we do not know recreates the kennel problem. Complete a program first and boarding becomes available for your dog's lifetime.
What should I ask any kennel about my reactive dog?
Ask where dogs are housed relative to strangers, who reads escalation signs, what happens when your dog reacts, and whether staff will honour your management rules. Vague answers predict a bad week.
Is a pet sitter better than a kennel for reactive dogs?
Often, yes: home stays remove the strange-dog pressure entirely. The sitter still needs real handling instructions and honest disclosure of triggers. For graduates, boarding with the trainer combines home-style calm with professional handling.
