The first call about a Poodle is usually barking. Not aimless barking, but over-alert reporting: a car door, the hallway, a dog two streets over. Adolescence delivers the selective hearing. A Poodle who came every time as a young puppy learns that recall is optional once there is a smell worth investigating or a dog across the field, and testing the rule is in character. Grooming handling rounds out the list: a dog that hates being brushed, held or clipped is a lifelong problem in a coat that never stops growing. Winter adds ice balls in that coat and a dog who objects to being towelled off.

For a puppy, Puppy Fundamentals at $2,775 plus GST builds crate comfort, structured socialization and a name response that survives distraction. An adolescent standard who has stopped hearing recall belongs in Functional Off-Leash, a 3-week board and train at $3,030 with the collar included. Separation anxiety is assessed first and usually lands in Behaviour Rehab, $4,850 to $5,760 for 5 to 6 weeks with two follow-ups. Barking alone is often a Private Training job at $150 a session with a written weekly plan.
