Start with the pathway system, because that is where most Coventry Hills dogs spend their lives. The links toward the Nose Creek corridor are shared with bikes, joggers and kids on scooters, and City pathway rules require a leash no longer than two metres. A dog lunging at the end of that leash has nowhere to go but into someone. So loose-leash walking is not a nice-to-have here. It is the skill that decides whether the evening walk is pleasant or a chore.
Then there is the recreation centre end of the walk, where the pathway delivers your dog into parking-lot traffic, swim-bag families and the odd loose ball. That is a sit-and-wait test, and a good place to learn that a crowd is background noise. Down by the creek corridor the pull is water and whatever rustles in the grass, so recall gets rehearsed there on a long line before it is needed for real. Adolescent dogs, and Coventry Hills has plenty, need all three at once.
