The Copperfield walk

Copperfield's pathways loop past playgrounds, and the City's rule is clear: dogs are not allowed within five metres of a play structure, posted or not. So a Copperfield dog has to walk a straight, calm line past shrieking kids and a swing set without dragging you closer. On the shared pathway, the leash can be no longer than two metres, which means pulling cannot be managed with slack. Loose-leash walking is the daily skill, not a nice-to-have.
Then there is 52 Street SE. Sidewalks are busy, the road is busier, and an adolescent dog that hits the end of the leash as a truck passes is a safety problem, not a phase. The pond loops add water, other dogs and familiar faces, and a young dog learns there to greet politely or rehearse frustration. With New Brighton adjoining, the loops are rarely yours alone, so your dog needs a curb sit and a calm pass more than any trick.
