Before you book
Will board and train change my dog's personality?
The worry behind this question is a dog who comes back polite and dimmer. We will not answer it with a flat no, because nobody can promise what a dog will be like after several weeks anywhere. What we can do is say plainly what the training aims at, what the dog's days are built from, and what to do if something about your dog at home does not sit right.

Training aims
The aims are cues and routine; temperament is not something we promise either way.
Every program lists what it works on, and none of them is a personality. Puppy Fundamentals works on leash manners, name recognition, sit, down, place and crate comfort. On-Leash Foundations works on loose-leash walking, heel and place. The off-leash programs work on recall and off-leash manners. Behaviour Rehab works on reactivity, anxiety and fear-based behaviour and is planned after a full assessment. Each skill is taught with markers and rewards first, because a relationship-based method needs a dog who wants to take part.
What we will not claim is that temperament stays put, or that it changes for the better. A dog's days in the program are built from daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization and enrichment, with clean, comfortable accommodation, fresh water and individual care, and we share social-media updates and check in personally by phone or email while the dog is with us. A shy dog, a clown or a sock thief is met as the dog it is, with markers and rewards first.
- Cues taught with markers first
- A structured routine every day
- Socialization and enrichment built in
- No claims about temperament
If something seems off
Quiet, hiding or food refusal at home is a question for your vet first.
Some dogs are quieter at home than their owner expected, and some are not; we will not tell you what is normal for yours, because we cannot know that from here. What we can say is what to do. If your dog is hiding, refusing food, avoiding eye contact or not recovering when the room changes, ask your vet first, especially for a sudden change or any sign of pain. A vet can rule things in or out that no trainer can.
Tell us as well. Every board and train includes a handover lesson and free follow-up sessions, and Advanced Off-Leash and Behaviour Rehab each list two, so there is a built-in place to talk about how the dog is doing at home. Before any of that, the consultation is where we hear who your dog is, quirks included, and recommend a program, or a smaller one when it is enough. We would rather know about the sock habit going in than be surprised by it.

Asked and answered
The questions people ask us.
Does board and train make dogs sad or depressed?
We cannot speak for every program or every dog, and we will not diagnose a mood from a description. Our programs are built from daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization and enrichment, with markers and rewards first. If your dog seems flat, withdrawn or off their food after coming home, ask your vet first.
Will my dog be the same after board and train?
We will not promise that either way. What we aim to change is what the dog understands, the cues each program lists, taught with markers and rewards first inside a structured routine. Personality is not something we train for or against, and we would rather say so than reassure you with a guess.
Do dogs come back from board and train different?
Different dogs come back differently, and we will not generalize. The changes a program works toward are the skills it lists, such as loose-leash walking, place or recall, depending on the program. If a change at home worries you, ask your vet, and tell us at the handover or a follow-up session.
Why is my dog so calm after board and train?
We cannot say from a distance, and calm is not always what it looks like. A dog living inside a structured routine may settle differently at home, but quiet that comes with hiding, food refusal or avoidance is a question for your vet, not a training result to enjoy. Tell us too, at the handover or a follow-up.
