The phrase board and train covers everything from a boarding stay with a bit of obedience sprinkled in, to a genuine training immersion. The price tag alone tells you very little. What matters is what the number actually buys: how much training happens each day, who does it, what comes home with the dog, and what support exists after pickup. Every Northline K9 board and train, regardless of length, includes daily one-on-one training sessions, a structured routine built around sleep, work, and decompression, structured socialization, and enrichment that keeps the dog thinking rather than just contained. You get updates while your dog is with us, so the weeks are never a black box. None of that is a tier or an upgrade. It is the baseline.
The equipment your dog trains on comes home too. On-leash programs include a slip lead and training collar. Off-leash programs include the Educator remote collar your dog was conditioned to. Then the part that decides whether any of it sticks: an owner handover lesson at the end of the program, where you learn the commands and tools yourself, plus free follow-up sessions after your dog is home.

The add-on trap, and how to avoid it.
When you compare programs elsewhere, ask what the quoted price actually covers. Common add-ons that inflate a low headline number: training equipment sold separately, a go-home lesson billed as an extra, follow-up sessions charged per visit, even daily training time that turns out to be group time. Also ask who handles the dog and how often. A board and train is only as good as the daily minutes of actual training, and one-on-one work is a different product from a kennel stay with drills twice a week. Finally, confirm what happens after pickup. A program that ends at the parking lot leaves you to translate everything alone. The handover lesson and included follow-ups exist because the transfer to you is the product.

What does a board and train program include?
At Northline K9, every program includes daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization, enrichment, owner updates, a handover lesson, and free follow-up sessions. Equipment is included: slip lead and training collar, or an Educator remote collar on off-leash programs. All prices are plus GST with no hidden add-ons.
What should I bring to board and train?
Not much. Your dog's usual food and any medications cover the essentials, since training equipment and enrichment are included in the program. We confirm the specifics with you before drop-off.
Are follow-up sessions extra after board and train?
No. Free follow-up sessions are included with every board and train, and the longer programs include two. They exist to keep the training sharp once your dog is home, so use them.
Is the e-collar included in off-leash board and train?
Yes. Functional Off-Leash ($3,030 plus GST) includes the Educator remote collar, conditioned during training and taught to you at the handover lesson. You are not sent home with a tool your dog has never worn.
