Before you book

Is two weeks too long to be away from my dog?

This is the question owners ask quietly, after price and programs. Fourteen nights is a real gap, and how a dog experiences it is individual, so we will not tell you what yours will feel. What we can do is lay out the care it receives, how you hear from us, what the visits policy is, and some ways to use the time. There is also a version with no nights away.

Care and contact

What the dog receives, and what you hear from us.

Every board and train includes daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization and enrichment. Dogs sleep in clean, comfortable accommodations with fresh water, get daily exercise and individual care, and live the routine they are learning. There are no group classes, so the attention is not split across a room of dogs. That is the shape of the two weeks; what it means to any single dog is something we would rather observe than predict.

You are not out of the loop. We post social-media updates and make personal phone or email check-ins during the program, so questions can be asked while the dog is here rather than saved for pick-up. Visits are gently discouraged. The handover lesson at the end is where we teach what the dog has been working on and the tools it has been using, and every board and train includes free follow-up sessions after that.

Using the gap

How owners can use the time, and the daytime alternative.

Some owners find the quiet house harder than expected, and a short list helps. Things worth settling before the dog is back: where 'place' will live, which counter or couch rule will apply, who walks the dog and when, and where the crate will sit if one is in use. The welcome package includes a crate-training guide worth reading early. The free follow-up session is included, and thinking about when it would help most is a fair use of the gap.

If the nights are the sticking point, Day Training is built for that. It runs Monday to Friday, drop-off between 8 and 10 am and pick-up between 5 and 7 pm, at $650 plus GST per week, with a weekly one-hour go-home session. It suits dogs who need consistent work and owners who want them home every night. The consultation is where we recommend a program, and a smaller one is recommended when it is enough.

Asked and answered

The questions people ask us.

Will my dog forget me after two weeks at board and train?

We cannot promise how any individual dog experiences a separation, and we would rather not guess on yours. What we can say is that the dog spends the two weeks in daily one-on-one training and individual care, and the handover lesson at the end is where we teach the skills and tools it has been using to the person it is going home with.

Will my dog think I abandoned it during board and train?

That worry is understandable, and we do not claim to know a dog's inner experience. During the program the dog has daily one-on-one training, a structured routine, socialization, enrichment and individual care, and we send social-media updates and make personal phone or email check-ins so you can ask how it is doing.

How will I know how my dog is doing while it is away?

We post social-media updates and make personal phone or email check-ins during the program. Visits are gently discouraged, but the check-ins are the place to ask whatever is on your mind.

Should I just choose day training so my dog can come home at night?

It is a fair option. Day Training runs Monday to Friday at $650 plus GST per week with a weekly one-hour go-home session, built for dogs who need consistent work and owners who want them home every night. The consultation is where we look at your dog and your goal and say which fits.

Ask the quiet question

Book a consultation and ask about the two weeks out loud. We will describe the care plainly and recommend a program that fits.
